For people looking for something to do around the Wayne and Holmes County areas, here are five suggestions of activities going on around the community.

1. Tri-County Festival of Choirs

When: Monday, March 3, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Berkey Field House, Smithville High School, 200 Smithie Drive, Smithville

What: Students from 10 area high schools will participate in the annual Wayne County Festival of Choirs. Choirs are Chippewa, Dalton, Smithville, Northwestern, Norwayne, Orrville, Rittman, Triway, Waynedale and Wooster. The Tri-County Educational Service Center sponsors the event.

Cost: Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

2. Papermaking history

When: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4

Where: Lehman's, 4779 Kidron Road, Kidron

What: Homeschool mom Karen Geiser will share the history of papermaking and demonstrate making a batch of handmade paper using scrap paper. Visitors will create a sheet of paper and a bookmark to take home.

Where: Ohio Star Theater, 1357 Old Route 39, Sugarcreek

What: A comedy legend, Yakov Smirnoff is bringing his unique humor and perspectives to the Dutch Valley campus. The performance is part of Yakov’s 2025 Comedy Tour and will include new material. Attendees will enjoy his timeless humor and the opportunity to celebrate his legacy in the world of comedy.

4. ZUMBATHON

When: 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8; doors open at 7:45 a.m.

Where: Acres of Fun Skateland, 3889 Friendsville Road, Wooster

What: Dig out your best Zumba outfit and join Forget-Me-Not Baskets for the 15th annual Zumbathon, more than two hours of Zumba and a variety of fitness fun. The event is for anyone who loves to Zumba and for first timers who want to try it out. There will be two hours of Zumba, Glow Zumba and a few other fitness trends.

5. Shreve Migration Sensation

When: 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 8

Where: Clinton Township Garage, 225 E. McConkey St., Shreve.

What: Migration Senation is a day of birding, nature exploration and family-friendly activities in the heart of Ohio's prime bird migration corridor, the Killbuck Marsh area in Shreve. Registration, map pick-up, breakfast, speakers and vendors will begin with breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
