Mark your calendars for a glowing good time at The Wilderness Center’s 2nd Annual Firefly Festival on Saturday, June 28, 2025! This family-friendly summer evening celebration invites guests of all ages to explore the magical world of fireflies and other nocturnal wonders through hands-on activities, nature education, and plenty of flashes of fun. The twinkle of firefly-filled summer nights is always a wondrously welcome sight! Join us for an evening exploring and celebrating these amazing insects. Together, we’ll discover the science behind their bright glow and shed some light on their remarkable lives. Our fireflies are at risk, but we’ll learn how we can all help protect these sparkling jewels of the night. Festivities include: Naturalist-led presentations and interpretive displays on Firefly natural history and backyard conservation actions Firefly-themed crafts and activities for the young and young at heart Learn about the importance of dark skies with our Interactive Dark Sky’s Lab View a planetarium show – starting every hour (25-person limit, first come first seated) Enjoy delicious desserts from Crush Lovable Ice Cream Sandwiches food truck (available for purchase) As night falls, the adventure continues with campfires, guided firefly hikes, and stargazing (weather permitting). Admission: $10 per person Children under 5: Free Pre-registration is highly encouraged. Ticket prices increase for walk-in guests. The Firefly Festival supports The Wilderness Center’s mission to inspire and nurture a connection between people and nature through habitat conservation, environmental education, and community engagement.
